Om denne måleverdien

Hva den måler

Revived Supply 3+ Years sums the BTC spent each day from outputs that had not moved for at least three years. It isolates activity from a more seasoned part of supply than the one- or two-year thresholds, in BTC per daily observation.

Slik leser du den

High readings mark the release of coins held idle for several years; a low reading means little of that supply was spent. On December 4, 2018, about 225,035 BTC qualified for this group, almost matching that day's two-year reading of about 225,172 BTC. The event was therefore overwhelmingly concentrated in coins already at least three years old.

Long coin age cannot identify an original owner, a miner or a sale. Custody migrations can move very old coins without changing their economic owner, and a larger stock of aged coins changes the background scale. The series starts with zeros because three-year-old coins could not exist during Bitcoin's first three years.

FAQ

What can comparing the two- and three-year revival series show?

It helps locate the age of the activity. Nearly equal readings mean most BTC counted in the two-year group also passed three years, as on December 4, 2018.

Does a three-year revival identify early miners moving coins?

No. Three years is the time since the last on-chain move, not necessarily since mining. The coin may have changed hands many times before its latest dormant spell.

Is Revived Supply 3+ Years a running total?

No. Each date shows BTC spent that day after the minimum dormant period. A quiet day after a spike does not reverse the earlier transfer; it means fewer qualifying coins moved on the later day.
