Informazioni sulla metrica

Cosa misura

Blocks Mined counts the blocks added to the Bitcoin chain each day, measured in blocks. The protocol targets an average interval of about 10 minutes, equivalent to roughly 144 blocks per day over time, rather than a fixed daily quota.

Come leggerlo

More blocks mean more confirmation opportunities, block space and subsidy issuance that day; fewer blocks mean a slower settlement pace. The history includes 692 blocks on July 13, 2010, far above the long-run target and a reminder that short periods can diverge substantially from it.

Mining luck creates daily variation even at unchanged hash rate. Persistent shifts can reflect hash power changing before difficulty adjusts every 2,016 blocks; the count does not tell you whether blocks were full or whether demand for transactions increased.

FAQ

Does Bitcoin always mine 144 blocks a day?

No. About 144 is the daily equivalent of the 10-minute average target. Random discovery and changes in hash rate relative to difficulty make actual daily totals vary.

How do blocks mined relate to new BTC issuance?

Within a subsidy era, multiply the count by the subsidy per block to estimate newly issued BTC. Transaction fees add miner income but do not create new coins.

Why are there zero-block days at the start of the chart?

The earliest history includes days when no blocks were recorded, such as January 4, 2009. Bitcoin was not yet producing blocks at the more regular pace seen in later years.
