Cosa misura

Supply Last Active < 24h adds up BTC in unspent outputs created less than 24 hours before the observation. This youngest supply includes newly created transfer outputs and new coin issuance; it is measured in BTC and does not sum every transfer made during the day.

Come leggerlo

High readings show a large stock of newly formed outputs still unspent, while low readings show less supply currently in its first day. The historical peak was about 937,076 BTC on June 19, 2011; later daily highs included about 624,823 BTC on June 13, 2022 and 580,241 BTC on November 21, 2024. Such readings identify bursts of output creation without establishing their motive.

This is especially sensitive to exchange wallet maintenance, change outputs and repeated spending. An output spent again before the observation no longer contributes, while a replacement output begins with a fresh age. The stock can therefore differ sharply from transfer volume or exchange turnover; check fees, active addresses and the following age bands for context.

FAQ

Why is under-24-hour supply different from daily transaction volume?

It counts only currently unspent outputs younger than a day. Transfer volume counts movements, potentially including repeated use of the same coins, whereas an already spent output is absent from this snapshot.

Are newly mined coins included in the youngest band?

Yes. New issuance begins in newly created outputs and initially belongs to this age range. The balance also includes outputs created by transfers, so it is not a measure of mining production alone.

Does a sudden jump prove old coins are being sold?

No. It can reflect old supply being spent, rapid recycling of young supply or large internal wallet moves. Older age-band changes and exchange flows help assess what moved, but the youngest balance alone does not establish a sale.
