Om denne måling

Hvad den måler

Transfers per Second divides the day's on-chain Transfer Count by 86,400 seconds, giving an average rate in transfers per second. This is a daily average of recorded transfers, not a live counter of transaction confirmations.

Sådan læses den

An increasing rate means more transfers are being recorded per day; a declining rate means less frequent transfer activity. The series reached about 23.08 transfers per second on September 2, 2015, and a 2023 yearly high of about 19.56, illustrating that an activity peak can occur independently of a price peak.

A transaction can create multiple transfers, so this rate is not the same as transactions per second or a protocol capacity limit. Batch structure, small outputs and daily block production affect it; off-chain payments and exchange-ledger activity are not included.

FAQ

How is the daily average transfer rate calculated?

Divide the daily number of transfers by 86,400. For example, the recorded 555,065 transfers on October 17, 2026 correspond to about 6.424 transfers per second.

Is this the Bitcoin transactions-per-second figure?

No. It uses transfer count, and one transaction can contain several recipient outputs. A transactions-per-second measure would count each transaction once before dividing by time.

Does the chart measure Bitcoin's maximum throughput?

No. It measures activity actually recorded under this transfer definition. Capacity depends on transaction structure and block limits, while the chart is a daily average rather than a maximum performance test.
