Om detta mått

Vad det mäter

Exchange Net Flow to Balance Ratio divides net flow, inflows minus outflows, by the corresponding tracked exchange balance and expresses it as a percentage. It scales the net movement to the size of the reserve base rather than reporting an absolute BTC amount.

Så läser du det

A larger positive ratio means net inflow is larger relative to the balance base; a negative ratio indicates net outflow. The recorded extremes were about +13.90% on January 31, 2015 and -5.37% on May 27, 2022, useful reference points for this series rather than fixed thresholds for market direction.

A smaller denominator can magnify a modest flow. Venue coverage, the flow measurement window and the balance observation must match before comparing this with another exchange series; a daily chart does not by itself establish the underlying aggregation window. Deposits and withdrawals also include custody and collateral movements, not just trades.

Vanliga frågor

Why divide exchange net flow by reserves?

The same BTC flow has a different scale against a small reserve base than a large one. Dividing by the corresponding balance makes that relative size visible, while absolute net flow shows the coin amount.

Does a positive net flow to balance ratio mean coins were sold?

No. It means net inflow is positive relative to the balance used. Deposited coins can serve as collateral, custody inventory or settlement funds without being sold.

How is the percentage scale read?

The stored decimal is multiplied by 100: 0.02477 displays as 2.477%. A move from 1% to 2% is an increase of one percentage point, distinct from the percentage change in the ratio itself.
