Mitä se mittaa

Total UTXO Count is the number of transaction outputs that remain unspent at each daily observation. Each output counts once regardless of its BTC amount; the unit is outputs, not bitcoins, addresses or holders.

Näin luet sitä

Growth means output creation is outpacing spending, expanding the outstanding output set; a decline indicates net consolidation or other spending that removes more outputs than it creates. The recorded count grew from about 136.07 million on October 17, 2022 to 233.21 million at the April 2024 halving.

One owner can control many outputs, and a single address can contain several. Wallet splitting, small-value outputs and batching practices change the count without new users or new capital, so compare it with creation, spending and output values before interpreting growth as adoption.

What is a UTXO in Bitcoin?

An unspent transaction output is a discrete amount recorded by a transaction that has not yet been consumed as an input. A later transaction consumes the whole output and can create a new change output.

Why can the UTXO count rise while BTC supply barely changes?

Existing coins can be split into many smaller outputs. The output count then rises even though splitting does not issue additional BTC.

How does UTXO Count differ from UTXOs Created?

UTXO Count is the outstanding stock at a point in time. UTXOs Created is a daily flow; together with UTXOs Spent, it helps explain changes in that stock under consistent counting rules.
